About Squishify

Prep your images. Without the upload.

The story of why I built it

A Typical Go Live Story

Fifty large images landing in an inbox
It begins

It's almost launch day. The client hands you fifty large images to use.

Handing files off to the creative team to crop and resize
Call in the cavalry

No good — these need to be cropped and resized first. Off to the creative team, who prep everything in their design tool of choice and send back a link to the finished files.

A batch rename tool cleaning up a messy filename
Not quite Image%20from%20studio%20for-website_09%20final.jpg

Great. Time for a batch rename.

Running a batch image optimizer, some files still too large
Still too large

Now, prep everything for upload. Oh no — still too large. Time to load up the usual image optimizer, running batches by hand. Most sail through, but a few sit stubbornly over the 5MB limit.

The account executive leaning in to ask about the image retention policy
Uh Oh!

While you wrestle with those stubborn images, the account executive leans in: these are embargoed until launch. What's this tool's retention policy on anything you upload? Too late now. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Realizing the wrong set of images was uploaded
Plot Twist

Finally ready, you upload everything and place each asset where it belongs.

The client calls. Wrong set of images.

For years, this was the routine — export, resize, rename, and prepare assets for websites, landing pages, microsites, over and over. Some tools optimized well but gave no preview, or came with retention policies nobody had time to read. Others only handled renaming. And the design team was always too busy to prep every single asset by hand.

Enter Squishify.

A note from me.

I'm Xavier — I've spent years building WordPress sites and design-driven websites for clients, and Squishify grew out of solving this exact problem for myself. If you've done the same image routine one too many times, I'd genuinely love to hear what you think at hello@squishify.app.
