Prep images before they touch your WordPress site

Every other image plugin optimizes after upload — the heavy originals still travel to your server and still fill your disk. Squishify flips the order: compress, convert, and resize in your browser, then upload only the finished files to your Media Library.

Why Squishify

Optimize first. Upload second.

Squishify runs the same encoders behind squoosh.app — libavif, libwebp, MozJPEG, and Oxipng — as WebAssembly, right in your browser, inside wp-admin.

True privacy

Processing happens on your machine. Images never touch a third-party service — the only transfer is the final upload to your own site.

Save server space

Full-size originals never reach your server, and uploads stay under WordPress’s own 2560px limit — so WP never stores a “-scaled” duplicate either.

Faster page loads

Ship modern AVIF and WebP at exactly the size your pages need — dramatically smaller files, dramatically better Core Web Vitals.

Batch workflow

Queue up to 50 images, tune one, then apply the format and quality to the whole batch in a click.

Before / after preview

A live comparison loupe on every image — drag the divider and see exactly what a quality setting costs before you commit.

No API keys, no quotas

No usage costs, no monthly credit meter — your browser does the work, so optimizing 5 images costs the same as 5,000.

How it works

Three steps, right inside wp-admin

Click the Squishify button in your Media Library and a full-screen editor opens over WordPress.

1

Queue your images

Drag & drop or click to add images — up to 50 per batch.

2

Edit & optimize

Adjust format, quality, and size with a live before/after preview.

3

Upload & go!

Send the finished files straight to your Media Library.

Squishify Pro

Everything in free, plus the pro workflow

Free already crops, resizes and renames a whole batch in wp-admin. Pro turns that into a full asset-prep workflow: give a gallery one consistent look with Tone, skip the editor entirely with Quick Process, upscale what falls short, apply curated presets, and ship optimized files straight into the block editor, ACF fields, or your Media Library.

Replace existing images — everywhere they’re used

Open any image already in your Media Library, optimize it, and replace it in place. Same attachment — alt text, captions, and the library entry all survive — and when the file name or format changes, Squishify rewrites the old links across your posts and pages automatically, resized thumbnails included.

Gutenberg Image & Gallery blocks

A Squishify button right on the block — optimize on insert, and the finished uploads drop straight into the block. Galleries keep the full batch workflow.

ACF Image & Gallery fields

The same one-click flow on Advanced Custom Fields image and gallery fields — repeater rows included. Values are set through ACF’s own APIs, so everything behaves natively.

Curated presets

One-click recipes for common jobs — hero images, product shots, blog inlines — tuned per format, applicable to one image or the whole queue.

Upscale

A source that came in under the size a layout needs — a 600px product shot for a 1200px slot — doubled so it fits, before the resize and encode. A clean 2x, not an AI reconstruction: it gets the image to the size, it doesn’t invent detail that was never in the file. Per image, or applied by a preset.

Tone

Colorize, saturation and contrast — so a gallery of raw product shots comes out feeling like a set. Adjust one image, or apply the same look across the whole queue in one pass.

Quick Process

Confirm a recipe once — format, quality, size, even a rename prefix — then every image you drop runs straight through, ready to upload. No editor, no per-image stop.

Session recovery

Closed the tab mid-batch? Your queue and every edit — crops, renames, settings — are waiting when you come back. One click and you’re where you left off.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is the free plugin really free?

Yes — free and fully functional, forever. No credits, no quotas, no cloud API. Batch size is the same on both tiers, and resizing, cropping and batch rename are all free. Pro adds more ways to prep your assets (presets, Tone, Quick Process, Upscale, reordering, session recovery) and the deeper WordPress integrations.

Do my images ever leave my computer?

Never. All compression happens in your browser — we don’t have servers that could receive your images. Finished files upload directly to your own WordPress site, and nowhere else.

How many sites can I use Pro on?

One license covers the WordPress sites you manage — there are no per-site fees. If tiered plans ever appear later, licenses bought today keep what they have. It’s meant for your own sites (or your team’s) rather than passed around to a crowd of unrelated ones — that’s the one thing we ask.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

The plugin keeps working — we don’t break your site. Updates and support stop until you renew. You can cancel or manage billing any time through the billing portal.

Does Pro work with Gutenberg and ACF?

Yes. There’s a Squishify button on Gutenberg Image and Gallery blocks, and on ACF Image and Gallery fields — repeater rows included. (Gallery fields require ACF Pro, as galleries are an ACF Pro feature.)

Is Squishify Pro for the web really included?

Yes — for a limited time, a WordPress Pro license also unlocks Squishify Pro at squishify.app, with the same key. Handy for the sites you manage that aren’t on WordPress.

What’s your refund policy?

If Pro isn’t for you, email hello@squishify.app within 14 days of purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe; a refund deactivates the license.

What are the requirements?

WordPress 6.5+ and a modern browser. There are no server requirements at all — encoding happens on your machine, so even modest hosting benefits the most.

Don’t use WordPress?

Use the web app to prepare and optimize your assets from the privacy of your browser.
